This year I am making a couple of resolutions against my better judgement. What is making me do this at all is that I have already started on one and it is actually working.
Resolution 1: To use more of my stash. To use some of my special stash. To stop thinking of so much of my stash as special and untouchable, unknittable. To just knit it and enjoy it and love it. Then, maybe get more if I really like it or at the very least enjoy the process and the FO.
- The 12 in '14 HaldeAlong will certainly help with this. I have already stash dove and picked about 12 skeins that I will use of my HaldeYarns and those are definitely yarns that I consider my primo untouchables for some reason or other. The thing is, she still dyes, I can buy more, and I like using it, so I need to get over myself. I even went so far as to dig out my very most coveted skein of all from my stash the other day and wind it up: When Doves Cry from back when HaldeCraft HandDyed was Perhaps Today is a Good Day to Dye
- Use my Malabrigo Rios in Aguas to make the Mama Vertebrae Sweater
- Use two colors of Malabrigo sock for the Stripe Study Shawl.
- Same for the Different Lines Shawl.
- Make Sarah a sweater with nice yarn.
- Make Shane another sweater, this time a worsted weight cardigan. Most like the Baby Sophisticate jacket.
- Make Baby 3 a little sweater with HaldeCraft HandDyed in the new Lynn base in Sock Monkey. I bought the yarn especially to do that, don't back out now just because he will grow fast or spit up or poop on it.
Resolution 2: To read more. To finish some of the books I am in the process of reading that have been hibernating. To make steady progress on some of the series that I have really wanted to read forever or to finish for forever. To read more classics that I have had on my list for ages.
- Finish Wuthering Heights
- Finish the Casteel Series that I started over 3 years ago when Sarah was in Utero.
- Finish Doctor Sleep which was really good and I needed to charge the kindle and still haven't done that. What the hell?
- Read more of the Sookie series and maybe finish it this year.
- Finish Interview with the Vampire and read more in that series. I started buying all those in 2002 for heaven's sake.
- Read more of the Yarn Harlot's blogs. I love her writing and it makes me laugh and that is a good thing.
- Re-read The Stand. It was so good and I read it in such a fury the first time it deserves a second look.
- Read Little Women. Jane Eyre. Finish Pride and Prejudice.
- Try to read a little each night before bed or at least a couple chapters at a go each week.
