Stash attack!

When one hears the phrase, "Stash attack" many things can spring to mind.  For me, right now, this phrase means that my stash is attacking my brain and my senses and making me want to wind up everything in sight and cast on ALL THE THINGS.  The problem is, I have already cast on so many things that any more, right now, would send me over the edge!

There is a balance, one that is felt more than known.  A balance with the number of projects on the needles, the projects that are being actively worked on, the projects that can remain in time out, or stuffed in the back of a cupboard.

When a knitter has startisis... Startitis is a term used among knitters. It refers to an affliction where they begin several projects all at one time but don't really make much progress on anything before starting another new project. Self diagnosis leads me to believe I am suffering from quite a case of this at the moment.

What do do...that is the question isn't it?  I am staging a plan of attack.  I am hoping that if I just get some of my ideas on paper (well internet paper=blog) that I can put these things out of my mind long enough to get a project or two successfully and completely off the needles before casting anything else on.  So without further ado...

  • I want to use Irish Coffee for a pair of socks and maybe use a bit of Slave Princess to give them a jazzy heel and toe. See the two together below already wound for use in reverse order in my Hogwart's shawl.
  • I want to use The 40's Have Called and Weathered Wood together in a shawl.  I have all sorts of images of this in my mind.  A shawl with the 40's as the main part and with the WW as the edge.  With a pattern like the Stripe Study Shawl using the colors together in equal parts.  With a shawl like the Daybreak and using the WW for the "lines".  Below see the website photo of The 40's Have Called and my photo of Weathered Wood (originally called a different name on the ball band).

  • I want to knit something with my skein of Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in the Mansfield's Garden Party colorway.  I am thinking more and more that I want to make the Honey Cowl with this. Here is a photo of the yarn when it came in the mail last year.
  • Speaking of the Honey Cowl I also want to use about a million other stashed colorways in this pattern.
  • I also have some strange desire to knit a few more hand towels and wash cloths right now.  I don't know if I am just used to knitting cotton in the summer, or if I really want a variety of hand towels to choose from for the bathroom, or if I want to add a shelf to the bathroom wall and have all the pretty wash cloths and hand towels in a stack to use at will.  I also want to buy a variety of new cotton and linen blends right now to try.  This is becoming an all encompassing thought.

To find any of the HaldeCraft HandDyed yarns I mention look here.

  1. We need to work on your discipline or something. I feel like I've finished more since I started posting in the WIP & FO threads then ever before. It has nothing to do with my not having to open and close the door 80 times a night. lol
