On Reading...A shout out

Once upon a time, in a small town, there lived a girl with golden hair.  This girl did not know the sheer joy of reading and the many lands one could travel by simply sitting and flipping through the pages of a well written novel.  Then on her twelfth birthday, her dear cousin gifted her a novel of horror and suspense.  From the start of the novel all in the golden haired girl's world changed.  Every holiday that she was given money she saved it and used it to buy more books.  Anywhere she went she was reading.  Soon this girl made three very good friends and even with the labor of reading for education each of the young women continued to read for pleasure.

Sadly, upon graduation at the age of seventeen the golden haired young lady and her three best friends and reading companions parted ways into the world that lay ahead for each.  The golden haired young lady found solace in having her cousin once again as her reading companion, alas she was the only one.  However, one day the girl of golden hair, now a woman, found a young suitor that shared her love of books.  All was well as they even had many authors in common.  The suitor was even able to broaden the golden haired woman's focus, introducing her to novels of varieties she had not previously known.

Many years went by and soon the two were married.  Unfortunately the flaxen haired man began to focus more on work and other hobbies, casting his desire for books aside.  The golden haired woman was no a lonesome reader.  it was terribly sad to have such wonderful tales that she could not share with others.  No one to offer her reading suggestions or for her to do likewise.

A few reading friends came and went, but nary a one stayed for longer than a year.  The golden haired girl soon joined an online site for readers, writers, and lovers of books.  it helped when she had no clue what to read next or when she felt like sharing the title of a book she rather enjoyed, however it was not the same.

The tale now brings us to the present and the sun is once again shining on the life of the golden haired woman with such a fondness for novels.  She has gained two very good raven haired friends.  One  woman a year her junior, and one a man nine years her senior.  It was rocky at first.  The newness of the friendships took precedence over reading for all.  However, that inner desire for the printed word could not be stamped out for long.  Soon the golden haired woman and her raven haired female friend were reading again and sharing their thoughts on books and authors.  The tide swept up the raven haired male friend and he soon began to read faster than he had in years, almost devouring novels in just a night or two.  The fever even spread to the flaxen haired husband, and he has been known to come home from work and after the novelty of other hobbies have been exhausted, he can be witnessed lounging on the couch or bed, book in hand.

The golden haired woman's world is once again filled with her favorite sort of person, the reader.  Even at this very moment either one of the blondes, or one of the brunettes is surely seated, taken up with a good book, immersed so in the story that nothing else exists apart from words on pages and the images these words create.
