Busy Bee

I have been just a busy bee these last couple of weeks.  I wanted to put in an entry sooner but never seemed to have the opportunity, so now will just have to do.  I recently took a knitting class for the first time.  I signed up for it at one of the local yarn shops in my area and it was really great!  I learned the magic loop method which will be quite helpful in many of my future knitting endeavors.  The class was to teach fingerless mittens which is an item that I've wanted to be able to knit for some time now.  So, for a very reasonable fee i was able to learn how to make a pair of fingerless mitts using the magic loop method, in essence learning two new things during one two hour class.  That sounds like a deal to me!

I currently have quite a few projects on the needles, which is not something I particularly care for, truth be told.  i would rather just have one difficult project and one easy project to fall back on, but somehow i have accumulated many more than that in the last month.  I have finally cast on the noro striped scarf that i have wanted to make for quite some time, i am using knitpicks chroma for it as it is much softer and more reasonably priced than noro.  i had a little trouble starting out but a youtube video helped and so i have begun my first two color striping project ever.  also on the needles is the first of the pair of fingerless mitts that i learned the process for in the class.  still on the needles from last year, sad i know, is my multnomah.  it sits and causes me to feel guilty enough to do a couple of rows a week, but the noro kureyon sock that i am using paired with size 3 needles just makes for very slow progress.  also the yarn is very scratchy and thin as floss, i would wager it is more lace weight than sock weight in most places.  as if that weren't enough i cast on a new window cover for my front door in a shade of red heart soft yarn called autumn, naturally i will use this during the months of fall.

Besides all of the knitting, I have been reading like i haven't in years.  this is actually a wonderful thing.  i feel so accomplished with myself reading so voraciously.  i recently worked through all of David Sedaris' books and am on the last one.  I am also reading the Casteel series by V.C. Andrews, a series i actually began last year by reading the first book and a half of the five book series.  much like my knitting, as if that weren't enough i decided to start reading full dark, no stars by Stephen King, and it has definitely taken the forefront of my little pile.  as the other two novels sit I am devouring the King book of novellas as if it were on a timer of some sort.

So as I said I have been quite the busy bee, hopefully I can get to this blog more often and post about the knitting projects that are being finished and coming off the needles.  We shall see.
