Sky Scarf

Already the second month of the new year, and time is just flying by.  We are supposed to have six more weeks of winter according to the groundhog's prediction on the 2nd.  I chose this day to cast on my sky scarf.  I ordered the yarn at the end of last month and chose to work with knitpicks palette since it is available in a wide variety of colors and the price is so reasonable.  I am using 6 colors in the scarf, two strands held together and two rows per day.  The first two days have been very overcast and so I have been excited to use some of my gray yarn as I am sure, living here in Florida, that soon it will be a sea of blue.  I chose to cast on 30 stitches since I will turn 30 this year.  I am excited about this project as I think it will make a pretty scarf and tell a nice story.

My afghan for 2012 is coming along nicely so far as well.  I finished block one a couple of weeks ago and cast on block 2.  Today I should be finished with the second block so I am keeping up really well since I got started on the 15th of January rather than the first week.  My internal goal for the future is to have the first block of each month completed by the 15th of that month and then the second block finished by the end of the month.  The next installment of the club is released at the yarn shop today but I will not get up there to pick mine up until Monday, and I want to have block two of January finished by then at the very latest.  With the second block I learned how to do a ssk and a psso.  I watched  youtube tutorial on both stitches since I had never done them before, and it wasn't hard at all!  I am so happy that I decided to take part in this club because it is already teaching me new things as well as promising a lovely finished object!

I have only been having about half a cup of tea every now and then.  My tea appetite hasn't really picked back up yet. I am also still having morning sickness even though I am 17 weeks along now.  It has eased up a lot but I am still not having cravings and eating lots.

I have not read anything since my last blog.  I am still just on the first chapter of All Together Dead.  The only progress I did make was to get the book on my kindle and then thumb to the page that I was up to in my paperback copy.  I really do want to read it and I want to start Under the Dome and Nightmares and Dreamscapes both by Stephen King as well.  I just have not found the time, desire, or energy to read in the last couple of weeks.  I have been sick with a cold that has kept me in bed and quite tired but that isn't the only reason.  I really don't know what is wrong with me in the reading department lately.  Maybe i can remedy this this month.

Well, I really want to work on my Noro striped scarf that has been on the needles since the start of last year but has been hibernating.  I also really want to cast on my Saroyan shawl.  Since I only have to work 2 rows per day on the sky scarf and only two blocks a month for the afghan I have time to also have a larger project going and so hopefully I will have something new to share on that front with my next blog entry.
