Second Sock September

In one of my local groups on ravelry, the group for Tallahassee Sock Knitters, an idea was proposed about a monthly theme.  Last month was nothing new cast on, I did not participate in that theme as last month I had major startitis and cast on ALL THE THINGS.

The theme for September ended up being perfect for me though.  Second Sock September, a month to encourage getting those second socks started, finished, and off the needles.  I joined with the main goal of finishing my second Fissility sock that has been on the needles for some time.  I have kept it as my on the go project and I am not often on the go so it has languished.  It is the perfect time to play with that Pumpkin Spice yarn though!

Here is my second sock at the point in which I joined in this month's theme.  I have gotten a few repeats past this point now, but not yet to the point to place waste yarn for the afterthought heel.

I am hoping that if I can get this sock entirely finished within the next week and a half, that I may have enough time to start and finish another second sock.  Remember when I made that first pair of Monkey socks?

Well, I have since decided to split that pair and make a matching one to each, giving one set to my mom for Christmas this year and keeping the other pair.  I am not concerned that the pooling is different, on the contrary I think that is super cool!  I actually fit better in the sock on the left in the picture because I knit that sock entirely on 2.25mm needles, and the sock on the right was knit with 2.5mm needles and is more loose than I would like.  The one on the right fits my mom's foot great though!  So with my idea, I am actually half way finished with one gift for the holidays!  How about that?!
