September Shawl Month Pt. 2

Like I said, it really is turning into shawl month, perhaps because in the evenings I can feel Fall trying so hard to break the heat of this HOT state.  I even went candle sniffing today and found a new one at Bath and Body Works, called Sweater Weather, that is delightful and apt.

The other shawl I have on the needles, that is really my main knitting project right now because it is addictive and easy, but not dull, is the Hitchhiker.  This is a paid pattern on Ravelry and is really cute and even has a few related patterns for matching gloves and hat.  My friend and knitting buddy started this shawl about a week before i cast on and is the reason that I cast on.  Hers is in a lovely self striping yarn in Gator team colors with sparkle!

When I decided I wanted to make this as well, after all it has been in the queue for a couple of years, I decided I wanted to use self striping as well.  I went through my newly expanding self striping stash by String Theory Colorworks to decide which skein to use.  I settled on Jupiter, one of the very first colorways I bought from her:
It is the one in the middle, the pink and browns.  It is in the Resonance base a delightfully squishy soft tightly plied 100% Merino.

I wound the yarn up, but waited until I bound off the Little House Shawl before casting on.

I cast on last Monday and in the first sitting got this far:
It actually probably would have even been two more "teeth" in if I hadn't messed up the first two teeth and had to frog and start anew.  I misread something and it was a silly mistake.
It is rocking and rolling now though!  It actually probably could be finished if I had a little more monogamy in relation to knitting projects.  Does the color remind you of candy?
