Gru, the villain that you just have to love. DH has been a fan for quite some time and with the sequel it started an epic rewatch of the first movie almost everyday for a two week period. Gotta love living with a toddler in the house! They want to watch the same movie again and again.
So, DH requested a Gru scarf, and a whole bunch of minions, and a minion hat, and minion slippers, and, and, and...
I told him I would make the scarf. As it turns out String Theory Colorworks has the perfect colorway, Neutron, to make a Gru something and not have to manually make color changes and weave in a ton of ends. I made a custom order for a double sized skein and so that reduced the ends I would need to weave in to just two!
I got started the other night with some October scary movie watching:
After that cast on I debated pulling it back and cutting off that bit of black, since it was only two rows of color. However, I really want to use every bit of the yardage so I decided it was fine.
This is my progress after one session. The pattern I am using is free on Ravelry and is available here: The Corrugator. Isn't that a good name for a pattern for a guy recipient, lol?! I am happy with the way the pattern is working up and I have it memorized now, it is only two rows. It is also great because it is reversible and looks the same on both sides.
