Last night I finally finished Apt Pupil by Stephen King. I am still in Strangers but I started Apt Pupil as sort of a jump start back to reading book. Sort of how knitters will get bogged down with a sweater or another large project and then knit a sock or a hat to mix things up and get the mojo going again.
Apt Pupil was probably the most creepy of the Stephen King novellas that I have read to date. Seriously I think this one could have been written by Richard Bachman, it is that sort of tale. I don't want to get into any spoilers so let me just say that there are all sorts of issues that are at play and really get one thinking when reading this story. There were a couple of really horrific times when I just needed to call it a night, stop reading, and take a breather. Naturally , my overactive and vivid imagination still wanted to mull things over but I eventually told my brain to give it a rest already so I could move on with the story. An excellent read on many levels and I highly recommend it if you have not read it yet or if it has been awhile even.
Today I embark once more on the tale of Sookie Stackhouse. I started watching True Blood after it aired it's first three episodes. I watched each season as it was aired which is something I really don't ever do. After the first season wrapped up I decided to see what I thought of the books by Charlaine Harris for which the series was based upon. I found the books very enjoyable and read each book in order and got to All Together Dead when it was released and then started reading other things and also not reading. This brings us to now. I am going to start a reread of All Together Dead today because I seriously have no clue what happened in that book. I have dutifully purchased each of the subsequent books as they were released in paperback and so have a neat little pile of about 4 books to read now. I could just pull up a synopsis and move forward but I do like Harris' writing and I enjoy being in Sookie's little world and so I thought I would go ahead and reread it and enjoy the books a bit longer before the next one is released this May.
Iam off now to see what is to happen in my book and perhaps to knit a few rows on my Storm of the Century.
