My mom has been asking for another pair of hand knit socks and since it is my Month of Socks, I figured it would be a good time to cast on a pair for her to maybe have finished by Christmas this year. I decided to wind up one of my crazy zauberballs in a color scheme she would like as an excuse to try out the yarn for the first time.
By employing this yarn for socks I would be working on two of my goals for the year: knitting from stash; and knitting yarns that I haven't yet tried before stashing more (and possibly not liking it).
I decided to use some HaldeCraft Andre for the heels and toes in Pretty in Pink since it looks good with the zauberball. I am trying a new pattern, another goal of mine for the year is trying new techniques and using patterns for my sock knitting and not just making tons of plain vanilla socks. I am using the Lacey Ribs Socks pattern from a box of sock patterns I have, which meets yet another goal for the year of actually using some of my paid for knitting patterns.
I know I will not finish these socks by the end of the month, but that's okay because the Month of Socks is just supposed to make some headway not necessarily be for the starting and finishing of pairs. Like I said, I hope to have these finished by Christmas and to get an idea of how I like working with the Crazy Zauberball.
