Without further ado, in no particular order, I present the sweaters that will not shut up:
- Paulie. Most likely I will use the Carbonite I already have and buy a couple skeins of Cranberries for the contrast color. Although it is really hard to choose between Cranberries, raspberry Beret, and Pretty in Pink to use for this.
- Featherweight. This is actually going to be cast on way sooner than expected. It is so much like the Amiga that I already swatched for that I am now going to use both patterns together with my Red Mars Zelazny yarn to make the cardigan. The Amiga I wanted to use because it seemed pretty simple, is free, and worked at the larger gauge should go pretty quickly. I am worried if my first sweater takes forever it may spoil sweater knitting for me. The Featherweight is written for lace or fingering weight though, so I will be able to use both patterns together and make something happen.
- Whisper Cardiagn. aka Wispy Cardi. I want to make this also. I thought my cousin had that issue of Interweave Knits, but it turns out she does not. I have a couple other people looking for a copy of it though. I am thinking that if the original pattern in the Interweave Spring 2009 does not come into my possession, I will buy the Knitbot Essentials book. Then, I will have the other patterns in a variety of sizes and almost all of them are my sort of knit cup of tea. Apparently, I wanted to make the Whisper Cardigan a couple of years ago and even bought 2 skeins of Malabrigo Lace in Garden Gate to use for it. Then, I read some things about people's projects (this pattern and yarn combo) pilling and felting and I got nervous. Then, somewhere along the line I forgot about it all together. Well, the pattern came back on my radar a few days ago (and all that forgotten stuff came to the surface) and I decided that this pattern would be pretty doable for me and that I could use the pretty in Pink in Nalo that I bought with the Laika in mind. It turns out the Laika is better worked in fingering weight yarn, not lace weight, and since I want to make the Whisper anyway, and it does take lace-weight, I could redirect the plans for that yarn accordingly. Win win.
- Laika. I still want to make this, but it is still out of my league. As far as my confidence goes anyway. I really do not want to set myself up for disaster. I also do not yet know which yarn I will use for this (see above).
- Blank canvas. Yep, I love Ysolda! I want to make this as well, I bought the pattern during her birthday sale this month. I may have enough MadTosh Pashmina...I may need one more skein...it is still percolating.
- Cria. Ysolda again. This cardigan is really cute, very wearable, and I don't know which yarn to use for it yet either.
- Alice in Wonderland. So pretty! I remember adding this to my favorites a little while ago. Then, yesterday, a friend pointed out that it was on sale. I looked at it and realized that I had the yarn for it already in my stash! So, I went ahead and bought the pattern. I have to get the other skein out of the stash, I will need to alternate skeins every couple of rows as Malabrigo is not so even being a kettle dyed yarn. I am going to use Eggplant. It is a really cool coincidence that I did not get my Color Affection cast on yet! I was going to be using one of the skeins of Eggplant as the main color in that shawl! This way, if I have enough left, I can use it for the contrast color 1 in that shawl, and if not figure out which color to use instead later. Right now, i want to get the other skein out and wound and start to swatch! The pattern scares me a little, but I have done the mock cable before on an afghan square so I know that part is not too bad, it is all the things I have to do at once in the pattern that makes me nervous.
- Audrey. I have custom ordered the yarn for this. I am going to use Irish Coffee in Tiptree from HaldeCraft HandDyed. I am really excited about all of that garter stitch. And the squish factor of the garter stitch. I haven't bought the pattern yet, so I am wondering how the sleeves are worked. I don't know if they are reverse purl in the round to look like garter or what.
