Alice in Wonderland Sweater

I have had a love obsession with Malabrigo yarn for some time.  I remember the very first skein I held in Wooly Bully Yarn Store in Tallahassee Florida.  It was a lovely soft skein of Malabrigo Twist in the Teal Feather colorway.  It is still in the stash actually. 

I was able to look at it already knit up into a cowl that was a shop sample right next to the display of their stock of available colorways.  I bought that skein and have not looked back since.  I cannot tell you exactly how many skeins of Malabrigo yarn I own, but has a strong foothold in my stash.  Quite a few of my stashed skeins are Malabrigo Sock and that is the point of this post.

I planned to make the the Color Affection Shawl with these skeins of Malabrigo Sock:

That was the plan.  Until!  Until I discovered this Alice in Wonderland Pattern.  I promptly favorited it on ravelry, as it wasn't even available for purchase at the time.  A few weeks ago it became available and one of my friend's made me aware of that, it was paid for and downloaded minutes later.  It is probably the quickest pattern purchase I have ever made.  I mean look at it:

I started reading the pattern, did a little math to know how many skeins I would need, realized that the pattern called for Malabrigo Sock and thought I may actually be able to stash dive and create this sweater!  It turned out I had enough in the Eggplant colorway and that it would be a great color on me in the finished object.  However, that means the Color Affection is once again going to have to wait.  I will need the Eggplant skein I had assigned to that project for this one instead.

I am really excited about this sweater.  I think it is gorgeous, practical for the weather in my area during Spring, Fall, or even Winter.  The instructions seem entirely doable with my current skill level.  I have actually worked this mock cable pattern before!  I am very eager to get a swatch prepared, but am making myself wait until I have finished the Amiga sweater first.  I have set a personal goal to finish this by Spring 2014.  Wish me luck!
